Suzan Lemont
Expressive arts therapist, educator, consultant, writer, dance theater maker, and independent researcher
http://suzanlemont.com/Suzan Lemont is originally from the U.S., she has been living and working in the Netherlands since 1996. Suzan holds a BSc in Dance and Dance Therapy from Lesley University (1993), and an MA in (Intermodal) Expressive Arts Therapies jointly between Lesley University and the European Graduate School (1997). Her work has spanned more than three decades covering various areas of the arts in human development, trauma and recovery, and resilience. Among her various projects and initiatives have been: the founding of the Netherlands Expressive Arts Association – NEXAA; research partner of the SANPAD project on using the arts as whole school interventions in Johannesburg, South Africa; Presentations Co-Chair of the International Expressive Arts Therapies Association (IEATA) 2019 conference; current Co-Coordinator for the IEATA European region; Director of Facilitator Training of the Heal Her Project, an initiative to train facilitators in holding storytelling circles for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence; faculty at University College Utrecht (2005-2010); and creation of the Netherlands Refugee Research & Training Project (NeRRT) aiming to put expressive arts knowledge into the hands of non-voluntary migrants/displaced persons and others who need it most. Suzan also operates a small creative arts studio (Pandora’s Playspace) in Utrecht, Netherlands which focuses on community building practices from an expressive arts base, classes and workshops in Body-Mond connections and Intermodal Expressive Arts, Embodied Philosophy improvisation sessions, and one-to-one/group therapy. As a Neuro Diverse/Divergent person, mother of two ND daughters, and teacher to countless ND students she has developed a body of knowledge and experience in how Embodiment practices can best serve those with ND.
